I recently purchased Playstation 4 (PS4) since there are quite a few jRPGs coming in this 2016 or was already released late last year. First game I bought was Sword Art Online: Lost Song.
Don’t get me wrong, as much as I enjoy Sword Art Online (SAO) franchises in general, my expectation was very low story wise. Not to mention, I played Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment on PS Vita but couldn’t get into it further after floor 80. I got bored with it even though I did enjoy the random side stories/skits with other main characters.
How was SAO: Lost Song?
The story was pretty straightforward and predictable as I would expect. I actually enjoyed more the side stories/scenes with other main characters as I found them really hilarious and it was eye-pleasing to see different characters in different costumes.
The length of the main story itself was really short and was broken into four main chapters + post game content. I spent about 20-25 hours to finish the main story line and did a majority of side quests. You could probably spend less than 20 hours if you skip side quests and extra scenes with other characters.
I got addicted to its battle system since it allows your character to fly around and fights in mid-air. I’ve never seen other RPGs that allow your characters to fly and do battles in mid-air. It’s so much fun especially when you play with others online and do some quests. Check out these videos below when I streamed SAO: Lost Song.
Was it worth it at CAD $55.99? The answer depends on how much post game contents you’re going to invest your time in. If you’re not going to bother with post game contents and multiplayer content, then, the answer is no. I would get it only if it’s on sale.
Hope you enjoy these screenshots I took while playing Sword Art Online Lost Song
