Glasslip takes place in a small town in Fukui Prefecture surrounded by mountains and sea.

Main heroine of Glasslip is a 3rd year highschool girl named Touko Fukami. Her family runs a glass-working family business and Touko’s dream is to become a glass artisan. Touko usually hangs out with her four best friends,Yukinari Imi, Sachi Nagamiya, HIro Shirosaki and Yanagi Takayama at a café named Kazemichi who’s owned by Hiro’s grandfather and it’s also where they work part-time as a waiter or a waitress.

From a glimpse, Yukinari appears to have a crush at Touko since he always does everything that Touko asks. On the other hand, Yanagi has a crush on Yukinari and occasionally feels jealous toward Touko. Another possible couple is HIro and Sachi. Hiro has a feeling toward Sachi, however, Sachi does not seem to feel the same way. She just enjoys her time being with everyone and having fun.

One day, a boy named Kakeru Okikura transfers to Touko’s highschool as a 3rd year. He appears or believes to have some relationship with Touko and he has this mysterious aura around him.

First Impression

My first impression of Glasslip is that it feels like Nagi no Asukara-ish. It’s no surprise that they are similar since P.A. Works does both Nagi no Asukara and Glasslip. In addition, you can sense that romantic triangle is strong in this anime. In first episode, it’s already hinted that Yukinari has feelings toward Touko while Touko being Touko is completely oblivious. On the other hand, Yanagi has feelings towards Yukinari and is occasionally jealous of Touko. Whether Glasslip looks promising or not, it all depends on how you answer question of “Can it cram everything and 6 characters in to 13 episodes ?

In Glasslip, we have 5 best friends + 1 versus 4 best friends + 1 in Nagi no Asukara, however, Glasslip only has 13 episodes in total, thus, trying to squeeze six characters’ development is tough. Even in the first episode, it seems rush and it tries to introduce all main characters in one episode; it’s probably due to the series only has 13 episodes, thus, we can all expect a higher pace. Hopefully, it does not drop quality as story pre

In term of animation and background quality, I just love P.A. works in general since they produce such as a rich scenery background and top-notch. Nobody can second judge their work and their past anime such as Nagi no Asukara, Hanasaku Iroha and Tari Tari had a great animation and background art.

OP song is sung by Choucho whose voice is quite familiar to our ears and she really has a nice and sweet voice. Even if the story is mediocre, listening to Choucho’s voice will be worth it. nano.Ripe sings ED song , a 4-person band, who were involved in OP/ED theme song performance in Sankarea, Bakuman S3, Hataraku Maou-sama and Hanasaku Iroha. With such a high quality of OP and ED, hopefully, the story can carry the same weight.

If you like anime such as Hanasaku Iroha, Nagi no Asukara, Tari Tari, etc, you will like Glasslip. Even if you’re not a fan of romance + slice of life type of anime, I still recommend this anime, however, you should wait until all 13 episodes finish and do a marathon. Background scenery art and animation are awesome and this reason alone is enough to get you to watch this anime.
