The Last Remnant is the latest installment RPG created by Square-Enix which will be out on March 24th, 2009 for $39.99. It is a pretty cheap for a PC games in comparison to most console games (ranging from $50-$60) and I guess piracy may have something to do with it. The XBOX 360 version was sold at $59.99. More pictures and info after the cut.

Xbox 360 owners received their early Christmas gift last year when The Last Remnant was released back on November 2008 while PS3 owners were left wondering when the PS3 version will be released since there is no exact date as of now.

So I am really excited with the soon-to-be-released The Last Remnant for PC because I don’t need to wait for the PS3 version to be released, although, getting XBOX 360 will be another option that I was thinking of because there are some RPGs that I would like to play and give it a try.

The character design reminds me a lot of FFXII and also the upcoming FFXIII. I read up some reviews for TLR on 1up, Kotaku, IGN and GameSpot ; most of them got annoyed with the unique battle system so it’s either you love it or you hate it. In addition, there are quite a few of bugs and glitches for the XBOX version so hopefully they are all fixed for the PC version.

Despite the bad reviews for the battle system, it still does peek my interest since instead of a normal individual character, you will have a union ( a group of characters) in a battle and having a turn based rpg is not necessarily a bad thing nowadays since most of rpgs are moving to real time based. Going back to the old days I guess. Feeling nostalgic anyone ? ^^

The PC spec requirements are little bit demanding in my opinion so this game may require an up to date PC Hardware especially video card. If you are not sure whether or not your PC can run this game, download the benchmark here and see what fps you get. I ran the benchmark and got 38 FPS at 1900×1200 resolution.

If you don’t want to waste $39.99, download the demo here and see how you like it.

On the PC version, you will be able to select your language preference which obviously we all know which one we will select or at least I know which one I will choose ^^;;

If you are too lazy to get a copy of Last Remnant for your local game store, you can buy and download it from Steam at a later date (April 9th, 2009). Looking forward to more games by Square-Enix on Steam in the future.
